Keywords: natural, basics, good quality, material structures, traditionally made, crafted, ethnic influences from various countries, Europe and North Africa.
Floral inspiration: natural, robust, full flowers, double flower shapes without too much of a romantic look. Petals may be curled, frayed, confused and spotted.
Colours: A range of natural neutrals to which dusty pastels have been added. Gold adds luxury without being too shiny or glamorous. White and off whites play a dominant part.
Materials / finishing: Materials look artless, the ’naked material’ without too many additions. Sometimes the materials look rustic or rugged, but the detail is always sophisticated. Wood, textile, ceramic, plaster of Paris and paper are the most frequently used materials.
Decoration: Subtle flower patterns, natural structures of pleats, folds and gathers, splashes and spots, cut out applications.
Shapes: Nostalgic or ethnic shapes, lots of bowls, plates and dishes. Often hand crafted.
